Molecular Biology Course Page

From the inception of the field, Molecular Biologists have always had a keen eye of understanding how basic molecular principles affect human health.  Therefore, the basic design of the course is to teach the basic principles of Molecular Biology, and then apply these basic concepts to human health and development.  Within the course we will cover topics such as the fundamental properties of nucleic acids (e.g. DNA and RNA) and proteins, mechanisms of gene expression, mutation and DNA repair, molecular pathology as well as experimental techniques to study DNA, RNA and protein.

As part of the course, we will go beyond the basic study of molecular mechanisms and we will aim to understand how different molecular mechanisms are disrupted in human disease.  We will also learn how different molecular techniques are used in disease diagnosis.

On this page you will find all the applicable links you need for the lecture notes/slides, study guides, worksheets and supplemental readings.
